The skills in this repo follow the Agent Skills (opens in a new tab) format and can also be installed as a plugin for platforms like Codex, Cursor (opens in a new tab), and Claude Code (opens in a new tab).

This repo can also be installed as a plugin for supported platforms. You configure the Box MCP server connection through your platform’s MCP settings — see the setup guide for your platform below.

Prerequisites
- Box CLI (optional) — Install from developer.box.com/guides/cli (opens in a new tab) for CLI-first verification.
- BOX_ACCESS_TOKEN (optional) — For direct REST verification when Box CLI is unavailable.
Quick Verification
Preferred order for agent tooling is MCP first, Box CLI second, and direct REST only as a last-resort fallback.

Skills follow the Agent Skills specification (opens in a new tab). The Box skill is a directory with a SKILL.md file containing YAML frontmatter and markdown instructions, plus a references/ directory for feature-specific deep dives.

- Discovery
- 5 chapters found by walking the repository tree for
SKILL.md, not by matching a directory convention. One layout observed:skills/*/SKILL.md. - Issue colours
- Resolved from a deterministic hash of the owner name. Two accent tones are generated per issue and each is proven against its own ground before it ships: a single accent that passes AA on both light and dark paper is arithmetically impossible.
- Heading repairs
- 1 repair applied to the front matter so the document has one
h1and no skipped levels:- Shifted “13 headings” from h1 to h2 so the chapter title is the only h1.
- Spec compliance
- Every chapter satisfies the Agent Skills specification’s frontmatter rules.
- Images
- Images inside a chapter come from the upstream repository. Where the author gave no alternative text we mark the image decorative rather than inventing a description — a plausible caption we made up is worse than none for the reader who depends on it.
- Marketplace
- A plugin manifest is published at
.claude-plugin/marketplace.jsonby Box, declaring 1 plugin. It is read for editorial metadata only — never as the skill index, which is always the repository tree. - Signal
- Install counts come from skills.sh. They measure downloads, not quality, and an unranked repository is not an unread one.
- Agent surfaces
- The whole issue is available as one markdown document at
/box/box-for-ai.md, and each chapter at its own.mdURL. - Publication
